In Visegrád walk on the 750 year-old stones of the formal Royal Residence (entrance fee included) and learn about life in the middle ages while enjoying the fascinating panorama of the Danube valley. Known as the Northern gate of Budapest, the city of Esztergom is the centre of the Catholic Church. Here you can visit the largest cathedral of Hungary and then glance across the river to view Slovakia. On the return to Budapest is the artist's village of Szentendre. A small baroque city at the gate of the Danube Bend, it is the meeting place of the river Danube and the Pilis mountains, and has a beautiful natural backdrop.

Walking around the baroque settlement, built on medieval ruins make your way through the narrow streets to a vantage point atop the city for great views of the Danube. Simply enjoy the special atmosphere of this village and should you wish, take the opportunity to visit the museums such as the world-famous Margit Kovács Ceramic Museum or the Confectionery Museum with buildings and people made of marzipan. During the summer (between the 1st of May and the 30th of September) you return to Budapest by boat on the Danube.
